You’ll find plenty of lodging options and places to stay in and around Downieville that offer the amenities and conveniences you’re used to at home. No matter where you decide to stay, you’re guaranteed to experience and enjoy the historic charm of our community that was established during the gold rush of the mid-1800s. While much has progressed since then, the old-world feel of this original settlement is still very much a part of our town.
Riverside Mountain Lodge
These days it’s nearly impossible to obtain a permit to build on the banks of any river in the state of California, which is one of the reasons a stay at the Riverside Mountain Lodge is so special.
This historic two-story lodge has been updated to include modern amenities but sits on the original location right on the banks of the Yuba and Downie Rivers.
Rooms feature high-speed fiber optic Wi-Fi, secure bike storage, kitchens and kitchenettes, river-front decks, hairdryers, complimentary toiletries, fireplaces, pet-friendly accommodations, and more.
Carriage House Inn
The Carriage House Inn is a 3 story boutique hotel in the middle of Downieville walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and spas.
Relax on an Adirondack chair on your private balcony overlooking the Downie River or in a comfy leather chair.
The Inn is pet friendly and has rooms and suites featuring sofas, mini-refrigerators, microwaves, high-speed internet, vaulted ceilings and more.

Carriage House Lofts
Looking for a little more space than a standard hotel room?
The Carriage House Lofts give guests apartment-style living in a fully furnished apartment, complete with a kitchen, full-size private bathrooms, TV, and balcony.
These lofts are centrally located and within walking distance to restaurants, bars, cafes, and the local bike shop.
Downieville River Inn
Located on the banks of the North Yuba River in the Tahoe National Forest, the Downieville River Inn offers rooms and cottages for guests.
Each offers comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and a porch or balcony to take in the scenery. Amenities include gardens, a picnic area, a BBQ grill, a sauna, and a pool.
The location also offers a short walk to downtown Downieville shops and restaurants.
Costa House
The Costa House is a beautiful three-bedroom home on four acres of land, perfect for bikers, couples, or families that want to experience all that the Sierras have to offer with more room to spread out.
The house has been updated with a new gas fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, and a beautiful deck.
There is room for up to six guests, but there's an option to rent an additional one-bedroom studio with its own full bathroom for a total of eight guests.
Sierra Shangri-La Bridge House
The Sierra Shangri-La Bridge House is one of the most unique lodging accommodations in the country.
The 3,400 square foot house was designed by distinguished San Francisco architect Francis Joseph McCarthy. The home features four bedrooms and three and a half baths and straddles a mountain stream tributary of the North Fork of the Yuba River.
Every room has stunning views of the surrounding waterfalls, pools, and mountain foliage. It is surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest, yet only three miles from downtown Downieville.
Big Springs Retreat Center
Big Springs Retreat Center consists of four large cabins which are beautifully situated beneath the pines and hold between five to nine people. Each cabin has two and a half shared bathrooms. In addition there are two ADA suites. All of the cabins have a shared tea station and small refrigerator for personal items.
Retreat participants are also welcome to camp on wooden tent platforms in the forest. There is a central Bathhouse with an indoor and outdoor private shower, and two ADA compliant bathrooms.
The waters of Big Springs meander downslope beneath tree roots through a glacial moraine, emerging to form pools and small cascades, eventually terminating in a waterfall. The natural terrain of Big Springs invites guests to restore, refresh and reflect in a deeply immersive relationship with nature.
